Dekton is an ultra-compact surface manufactured by Cosentino, produced under extreme pressure and heat. It is one of the hardest and most resistant worktop materials available — but this same hardness makes it more brittle than conventional quartz, and chips and cracks do occur.
Is Dekton Repairable?
The honest answer is: it depends on the damage. Dekton’s extreme hardness makes it more challenging to repair than standard quartz or granite. However, surface chips and edge chips are repairable in most cases. Through-cracks are more difficult and may not always be repairable to a fully invisible standard.
What Results to Expect
On plain or lightly textured Dekton colours, chip repairs can achieve very good results. On heavily textured or patterned surfaces (such as the stone-effect ranges), the texture replication is more demanding and results may show very close up.
We will always give you an honest assessment before committing to the work. If we don’t think we can achieve a result you will be satisfied with, we will tell you.
Common Dekton Damage Types
Edge and corner chips — the most common. Dekton’s brittleness at edges means corner chips are relatively frequent compared to other materials.
Impact cracks — from heavy objects dropped onto the surface.
Thermal cracks — less common than manufacturers sometimes suggest, but do occur if very hot items are placed directly on the surface repeatedly.
