Laminate worktops are the most common kitchen worktop type in the UK — affordable, available in hundreds of designs, and widely fitted in new builds and kitchen renovations. They are also among the most vulnerable to chips, burns and edge damage. Professional repair addresses damage precisely without replacing the whole worktop.
Types of Laminate Worktop Damage
Edge chips — the most common. Laminate worktops have a particle board core with a laminate surface layer. When the edge chips, the raw particle board is exposed and can swell if it absorbs water.
Burns — heat damage from hot pans or appliances placed on the surface. The laminate surface blisters or blackens.
Surface chips — from impact with hard or heavy objects.
Water damage at joins — laminate worktops can swell and delaminate at seams if they are not properly sealed against water ingress.
Matching Laminate Patterns
Plain laminate (white, grey, black) is the most straightforward to repair. Wood effect laminates can be matched very well. Complex stone effect or textured laminates require more careful assessment, but results are still significantly better than leaving the damage or replacing the worktop.
Cost
A single laminate chip repair typically costs £85–£175. Send us photos for a fixed price.
