Engineered wood floors are now more popular than solid hardwood in UK homes — stable, versatile and available in a huge range of species, widths and finishes. When they are chipped or scratched, professional repair can address the damage without lifting boards or sanding the whole floor.

What Is Engineered Wood?

Engineered wood flooring consists of a real wood veneer (typically 3-6mm thick) bonded to a plywood or HDF core. The real wood surface layer can be sanded and refinished like solid hardwood — but only within the limits of the veneer thickness.

What Engineered Floor Damage Can Be Repaired?

Surface scratches — fine to moderate scratches in the wood surface layer. Filled with colour-matched wood filler and polished to blend.
Deep scratches and gouges — filled with colour-matched compound and finished to replicate the wood grain direction.
Chips — impact chips in the wood surface layer. Filled and colour-matched.
Board edge damage — where the tongue or groove has been damaged, the board can often be repaired in situ.

All Species and Finishes

We repair engineered floors in all wood species including oak, ash, walnut, maple, birch, pine and exotic woods. All finishes including lacquered, oiled, brushed and smoked can be matched.
