Stone resin baths — made from a composite of natural stone particles and resin — are the premium bath choice in high-end bathrooms. Brands including Kaldewei, Bette (steel enamel), Duravit and Victoria + Albert produce baths in stone resin and similar materials. These are expensive baths that are worth repairing when damaged.

What Is Stone Resin?

Stone resin is a composite material — typically natural limestone or mineral aggregate bound with acrylic or polyester resin. The resulting material is heavier and more rigid than standard acrylic, with a dense, smooth surface that feels and looks more like natural stone.

Repairing Stone Resin Baths

Stone resin chip repair uses specialist composite repair compounds that match the density and matte finish of the material. Plain white and off-white stone resin — which represents most of the market — is very repairable. Coloured stone resin requires colour matching.

Kaldewei and Bette Baths

Kaldewei makes steel enamel baths (not stone resin). Their enamelled steel is very repairable — see our enamel bath repair guide.

Bette also makes enamelled steel baths. The same approach applies.

Victoria + Albert and BC Designs make true stone resin (volcanic limestone) baths. These are repairable using appropriate stone resin compounds.
