Annual Bathroom Surface Inspection Checklist
Bath
- [ ] Inspect the rim for chips — run your finger along the full rim
- [ ] Check the floor of the bath for chips from dropped items
- [ ] Check the surface for scratches and dullness
- [ ] Check the panel for impact damage
- [ ] Inspect the mastic seal — is it intact, white and mould-free?
Shower
- [ ] Check the tray for chips, particularly around the drain and entry edge
- [ ] Check the tray for cracks
- [ ] Check the enclosure frame for chips and scratches
- [ ] Inspect the mastic seal around the tray
Tiles
- [ ] Systematically check all wall tiles for chips and cracks
- [ ] Check floor tiles for chips at corners and grout lines
- [ ] Check grout condition — is it intact and clean?
Basin
- [ ] Inspect the rim and bowl for chips
- [ ] Check around tap holes
General
- [ ] Check floor for scratches and chips
- [ ] Check door for chips and scratches
When to Repair
Address damage as soon as it is identified. A fresh chip is easier to repair and gives better results than one that has accumulated staining. Failing mastic should be replaced before water ingress causes damage behind the tiles.
