uPVC window frames, door frames, fascias, soffits and conservatory panels can all be repaired professionally when chipped, scratched or discoloured. Repair is almost always more economical than replacement and produces results that are invisible at normal viewing distance.

Types of uPVC Damage

Chips and impact damage — the most common type, typically from impact during installation or building work, or from objects striking the frame.
Deep scratches — scratches through the surface of uPVC can be addressed by filling and colour matching.
Discolouration — uPVC yellows and discolours with age and UV exposure. This is addressed by recolouring rather than traditional repair.
Paint or plaster contamination — paint splashes from decorating or plaster from building work can be removed and the surface restored.

How Is uPVC Repaired?

Chip repair — the chip is filled with a colour-matched compound, shaped flush with the surrounding surface and finished to match the original uPVC texture. White uPVC requires precise colour matching because aged white is rarely pure white.
Scratch repair — deeper scratches are filled and blended. Light surface scratches may be polishable.
Recolouring — where the uPVC has discoloured throughout, a specialist coating is applied to restore the original colour or change it entirely. This is a popular option for homeowners who want to update their windows or doors without replacement.

uPVC Repair vs Replacement

Replacing a uPVC window frame costs £300–£800 per window including fitting. Replacing a front door and frame costs £700–£2,000.

Professional uPVC chip repair costs £85–£175. Full recolouring of a window or door costs £150–£300.

What About Conservatories?

uPVC conservatory frames, panels and roof trim are all repairable. Conservatory recolouring — changing the colour of all frames and trim — is a cost-effective alternative to conservatory replacement for structures that are structurally sound but look tired.
