Surface repair can be carried out year-round in most UK conditions. Here is what you need to know about surface repair in winter.

Interior Repairs in Winter

The vast majority of surface repairs are carried out indoors — in kitchens, bathrooms and living areas. Indoor temperature is controlled by central heating and does not typically affect repair quality.

Temperature requirement — most repair compounds require a minimum ambient temperature of 10-15°C to cure correctly. UK homes heated to normal living temperature (18-21°C) are well within this range.
Humidity — winter can bring higher indoor humidity. We assess humidity conditions before applying repair materials and allow additional curing time if necessary.

Exterior Repairs in Winter

Exterior surface repair — balcony tiles, external doors, cladding — is affected by temperature and weather conditions. We do not carry out exterior repairs when:

  • Temperature is below 5°C
  • Rain is forecast within 4 hours of application
  • Frost is expected during the curing period

For exterior work, we advise on timing and may recommend deferring until spring for temperature-sensitive applications.

Winter as a Good Time for Interior Repair

Winter is actually a good time for interior surface repair — properties are occupied, central heating is on, and temperatures are consistent. Repair compounds cure reliably in a heated home.
