Concrete effect worktops come in several forms — real poured or precast concrete, microcement (a thin applied coating), and vinyl wrap or laminate with a concrete-print design. Each requires a different repair approach.
Real Concrete Worktops
Poured and precast concrete worktops are repairable using specialist cementitious repair compounds. The challenge is colour matching — concrete varies significantly in colour and aggregate composition. An experienced technician working with appropriate pigments can achieve very good results on most concrete types.
Microcement Worktops
Microcement is a thin applied coating — typically 2-3mm — over an existing surface. Chip and crack repair is possible using colour-matched microcement repair compounds. Results on plain microcement colours (greys, whites, blacks) are consistently good.
Vinyl Wrap Concrete Effect
Vinyl wrap with a concrete-print design is more challenging to repair invisibly. The photographic pattern is difficult to replicate precisely. Options include localised repair (which may show), or replacement of the affected section of vinyl.
Laminate Concrete Effect
Concrete effect laminate worktops are repairable using colour-matched chip repair compounds. Plain concrete-grey laminates are straightforward to match.
Cost
