Yes — a chipped radiator can be repaired. Radiator chip repair is a straightforward touch-up process using colour-matched paint.

Why Radiators Chip

Radiators chip most commonly during installation or during furniture movement — a sofa leg catching the bottom of a radiator, or a radiator being knocked during decorating. The painted steel or cast iron surface sustains a chip that reveals the metal underneath and, if left, will begin to rust.

What Can Be Repaired

Standard white radiators — the vast majority of UK radiators are white. Touch-up repair uses matched radiator enamel paint applied carefully to the chipped area.
Coloured and designer radiators — coloured powder-coated radiators are more complex. We carry touch-up compounds for common colours and can mix for unusual shades.
Cast iron radiators — traditional cast iron radiators are typically painted. Touch-up repair using matched paint.

Rust Prevention

A chip that has begun to rust needs rust treatment before painting. If left, rust will spread beneath the paint and cause more extensive damage.
