A scratched bath surface — whether acrylic or enamel — can often be restored professionally. Here is an honest guide to what can be achieved on different bath types.
Acrylic Bath Scratches
Acrylic is a relatively soft material and scratches from abrasive cleaning products, bath accessories or daily use are common. Fine surface scratches in acrylic can often be polished out using appropriate polishing compounds — the same technique used to restore car paintwork.
Deeper scratches require filling. The filler is applied, shaped flush and polished to match the surrounding surface. On plain white or cream acrylic, results are typically very good.
A bath with extensive surface scratching — where the whole surface appears dull and scratched — is a candidate for full resurfacing rather than localised repair.
Enamel Bath Scratches
Enamel is harder than acrylic and more resistant to scratching. Very fine scratches in enamel can be polished. Deeper scratches that have gone through to the metal beneath require filling with enamel compound.
Coloured Baths
Scratches on coloured baths — avocado, burgundy, pink, harvest gold — require colour matching. We carry compounds for most standard coloured bath finishes.
