Yes — scratched and chipped LVT (luxury vinyl tile) flooring can be repaired professionally without removing or replacing the affected plank or tile.
What Causes LVT Scratches and Chips?
Furniture movement — the most common cause. Chair legs, table feet and heavy furniture dragged across LVT can cause significant scratching.
Grit and abrasive particles — stone, sand or grit trapped under furniture feet or walked in from outside acts as an abrasive.
Dropped objects — heavy or sharp items dropped on LVT create chips or dents.
Pet claws — dogs and cats can scratch LVT, particularly in softer formulations.
What Can Be Repaired?
Surface scratches — filled with colour-matched compound and polished.
Chips — impact chips filled and colour-matched.
Dents — depending on depth, may be partially recoverable using heat (LVT has some thermoplastic recovery) or may require filling.
Karndean and Amtico Specifically
Both Karndean and Amtico are high-quality LVT brands with well-documented colour ranges. We carry compounds for the core ranges of both brands. Results on wood effect designs are generally excellent — the grain direction and texture variation help to conceal the repair.
