Krion (Porcelanosa’s solid surface material) and Hi-Macs (LG’s solid surface) are both acrylic-mineral composites similar in composition and properties to Corian. Both are among the most repairable worktop materials available.
About Krion
Krion is manufactured by Porcelanosa and is available in a range of plain and stone-effect colours. Like Corian and Hi-Macs, it is a homogeneous material — the colour runs through the full thickness. This means scratches and chips can be filled and sanded to be truly seamless.
About Hi-Macs
Hi-Macs is LG’s solid surface brand, offering a wide range of colours including their Marmo collection (stone-effect) and their plain colours. The homogeneous material allows seamless repair.
What Makes Solid Surface Uniquely Repairable
Unlike stone or quartz where a repair compound is applied to the surface, solid surface can be sanded. A scratch in Krion or Hi-Macs can be sanded out entirely — no filling required. Chips are filled with matched compound and then sanded and polished seamlessly.
Cost
Krion or Hi-Macs chip repair: £85–£175. Scratch repair: £75–£150. Send photos for a fixed price.
