Marble is one of the most prestigious flooring and surface materials available — and one of the most repairable. Natural stone has been repaired and restored for centuries, and modern repair techniques can address chip and crack damage to a very high standard.
Common Types of Marble Floor Damage
Chips at tile corners and edges — the most common type of marble floor damage. Marble is relatively soft for a stone and vulnerable to impact at exposed edges.
Cracks — running across the face of a tile from impact or thermal movement. Repairable in most cases.
Lippage — where tiles have settled unevenly, creating a trip hazard. Can be ground down as part of a wider restoration programme.
Surface scratches and dullness — marble scratches more easily than granite or quartz. Surface restoration through polishing is a separate service.
Matching Marble
Marble’s veining pattern makes it one of the most challenging natural stones to match precisely. An experienced technician works with a colour library and mixes compounds to match not just the base colour but the veining direction and intensity.
On very busy marble patterns, the repair area may be visible on very close inspection, but is not noticeable under normal viewing conditions.
