A chipped or cracked tile does not always mean replacing the tile — and replacing one tile rarely means replacing just one tile. Grout matching, pattern alignment and the difficulty of finding the same tile all mean that tile replacement is often more expensive and disruptive than it first appears.
Professional tile chip repair is a faster, cleaner and usually cheaper alternative.
What Tile Damage Can Be Repaired?
Chips — the most common type of tile damage. A corner or edge chip, a chip from an impact at the surface, or a drilled hole that needs filling. All are repairable.
Cracks — a hairline crack or a crack running across the face of a tile can often be filled and coloured to be invisible or near-invisible.
Grout damage — discoloured, cracked or missing grout can be treated separately.
Drilled holes — tiles are frequently drilled for fixings. When fixings are removed or repositioned, the holes need filling. Professional filling is far cleaner than DIY filler.
Ceramic, Porcelain and Natural Stone
We repair all tile types including ceramic, porcelain, natural stone (marble, travertine, limestone, slate), glass mosaic and large-format tiles. The repair material and technique varies by tile type.
Cost of Tile Repair
A single tile chip repair typically costs £75–£150. This compares to the cost of sourcing a matching tile (often impossible if the range has been discontinued), removing the old tile without breaking the surrounding ones, and re-grouting — which can run to several hundred pounds.
