uPVC windows and doors are one of the most cost-effective home improvements of the last thirty years — but the standard white finish has become unfashionable. Anthracite grey, black, chartwell green and cream are now among the most popular window colours in the UK. Replacing white uPVC with coloured uPVC costs £5,000–£20,000 for a typical house. Recolouring costs a fraction of that.
How uPVC Recolouring Works
Professional uPVC recolouring uses specialist flexible coating systems designed specifically for uPVC. The process involves:
1. Preparation — the uPVC surfaces are cleaned, degreased and lightly abraded to provide a key for the coating.
2. Priming — a specialist uPVC primer is applied to ensure adhesion.
3. Coating — two coats of the chosen colour are applied using professional HVLP spray equipment for an even, factory-quality finish.
4. Finishing — the coating is allowed to cure and the property is left clean and tidy.
Colours
We can recolour uPVC to any RAL colour. The most popular choices are RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey, RAL 9005 Jet Black, RAL 6009 Fir Green, RAL 1013 Oyster White and RAL 7022 Shadow Grey.
What Can Be Recoloured?
Windows, doors, fascias, soffits, bargeboards, conservatory frames, garage doors and any other uPVC surfaces.
Cost
uPVC recolouring for a typical 3-bedroom semi-detached house costs £800–£2,500 depending on the number of windows and doors. This compares to £5,000–£20,000 for replacement.
