Acrylic baths are the most common bath type in UK homes — they are lightweight, warm to the touch and relatively affordable. But over years of use, acrylic surfaces can yellow, scratch, dull and lose their original gloss. Why Acrylic Baths Deteriorate

Yellowing — acrylic is susceptible to UV discolouration over time, particularly if the bathroom has a south-facing window. Harsh chemical cleaners also accelerate yellowing. A bath that was bright white when installed may have taken on a distinct cream or yellow tone after ten or fifteen years.
Surface scratching — abrasive cleaning products and scourers gradually dull the surface of an acrylic bath. The gloss finish becomes hazy and scratched, and the bath looks permanently dirty even when clean.
Impact damage — chips and cracks from dropped items. These can be repaired as part of a wider restoration programme.

Restoration Options

Single chip or crack repair — where the bath surface is otherwise in good condition, a localised repair is the most cost-effective option.
Full resurfacing — where the bath is yellowed, heavily scratched or has multiple chips, full resurfacing is more appropriate. The entire surface is cleaned, any damage repaired, and a new coating applied in the original colour or a new colour of your choice.
