Yes — chipped marble can be repaired professionally to an excellent standard in most cases. Marble has been repaired and restored for centuries and modern repair compounds allow invisible or near-invisible results on most marble types.
What Marble Surfaces Can Be Repaired?
Marble worktops — kitchen and bathroom worktops. Corner and edge chips are the most common type.
Marble floors — chip and crack repair on marble floor tiles. All marble types.
Marble fireplaces and surrounds — a speciality. Period marble fireplaces are often irreplaceable and professional repair is always preferable to replacement.
Marble bathroom surfaces — vanity tops, shower surrounds, basin surrounds.
Marble window sills — chip and crack repair.
The Challenge of Matching Marble
Marble’s veining pattern makes it one of the more challenging natural stones to match precisely. An experienced technician works with a colour library and mineral pigments to match the base colour, and then continues the veining pattern through the repair area using fine brush techniques.
On Carrara and Calacatta-type marbles — white with grey veining — results are consistently excellent. On more complex or unusual marble types, a pre-visit assessment may be recommended.
