A chipped tile can be fixed without replacement in most cases — either with a DIY repair kit or by a professional. Here is what each approach achieves.

DIY Tile Repair

Tile repair kits are available from hardware stores for £5–£20. They typically contain a small amount of filler and a limited selection of colours.

What they can achieve: a serviceable repair on a small chip in a plain white tile. Not invisible, but better than the raw chip.
What they cannot achieve: colour matching to non-white tiles, matching the gloss level of the surrounding tile, or repairing natural stone tiles.

Professional Tile Repair

A professional technician attends, matches the tile colour precisely from a comprehensive library, fills the chip with multiple layers, shapes it flush and polishes it to match the surrounding gloss level.

What is achievable: invisible or near-invisible results on most ceramic and porcelain tiles. Very good results on natural stone.
Cost: £75–£150 for a single chip.

Why Not Just Replace the Tile?

Replacement requires sourcing a matching tile (often impossible if discontinued), removing the chipped tile without breaking surrounding tiles, and re-grouting. The total cost is typically £200–£700 — significantly more than professional repair and rarely a better result.
