Parquet flooring — wooden blocks laid in geometric patterns — is one of the most characterful and valuable floor types found in UK homes and buildings. Period parquet in particular can be irreplaceable. Professional repair preserves the floor without the cost and disruption of full sanding or replacement.

Types of Parquet Floor Damage

Chips and splits — individual blocks can chip or split from impact or as the wood dries and moves.
Loose blocks — adhesive failure causes blocks to lift or become springy underfoot. Loose blocks are re-bonded in position.
Scratches and gouges — surface scratches filled and colour-matched without sanding the entire floor.
Missing blocks — where blocks have been lost entirely, replacement blocks are sourced and fitted where possible.
Water damage — water ingress causes parquet blocks to swell, cup or lift. After drying, affected blocks can often be re-bonded and the surface repaired.

Period Parquet

Pre-war and mid-century parquet in schools, offices and period homes is often irreplaceable — the original species, block size and pattern may not be in production. We have experience working with period parquet and take a conservative approach — repair and consolidate rather than replace.

Cost

A single parquet block chip repair or re-bond typically costs £75–£150. Send us photos for a fixed price.
